Fourth of July Weekend

by Wife 7. July 2008 03:27

Bryan and I had a nice holiday weekend!  I know I definitely enjoyed the day off on Friday.

Bryan picked up his new car Thursday evening.  He went with the Equinox, in black.  It's not too bad!  After he got his new car we headed up north to his parents' cottage late Thursday evening (around 7:00 p.m.) and hit a bit of traffic on I-75 north.  We arrived at 10:00 p.m.

On Friday we hung out on the boat during the day and there was a luau on the shore at night.  It was potluck style and I made a pasta salad that was quite tasty!! :)  Many of the ladies (Bryan's mom and her friends) were decked out in Hawaiian garb so that was amusing.  One of them was only wearing a shell bra on top...  Once the sun set there was a nice fireworks show put on by one of their friends.  If featured lots of not-so-legal Wisconsin fireworks.  Self-lit fireworks make me pretty nervous, so I was slightly happy when the show was over.  All the noise was making little Graham and Thatcher a bit nervous as well.

Saturday we went out on the boat all day again, and it was HOT!!  And SUNNY!  I got a lot of sun.  I used Neutrogena spray sunscreen SPF 45 and I am not sure if their spray works very well.  I have been very happy with Coppertone in the past, but Neutrogena is not nearly as effective.  I am quite disappointed about that, and so is my pink back.  I will be using lotion sunscreen or Coppertone next time I am out in the sun like that.

Saturday night we went over to Art and Dawn's for Art's 50th birthday.  It was another potluck so I made homemade baked Macaroni and Cheese.  It turned out really well too!  I was happy about that. :)  After dinner Bryan and I went over to his friend Freddy's bonfire for a little bit, then back to his parents cottage to relax together.

Sunday morning we headed back to the Detroit area around 9:30 a.m. to avoid traffic.  We stopped by Novi to visit my parents on our way home, then went with them to Red Robin to visit Katie at work and enjoy some good food.  My mom and I both had really good salads.  I have half of mine leftover for lunch today - yum!

Last night Bryan washed all three cars while I did laundry and cleaned up the house.  He deep cleaned the inside of his truck in preparation to sell it.  We'd really like to sell the Envoy but with gas prices the way they are and everything I am not sure that's going to happen.  I guess we'll see.  We're going to post it online this week, and maybe park it at a very busy intersection.

It was a very busy weekend and I am looking forward to staying in town this coming weekend!
