Washer and Dryer

by Wife 4. June 2008 09:59

Over the weekend our washer broke.  It was a sad moment of seizing, and then it just stopped spinning.  Bryan spent Monday night trying to fix the washer but on Tuesday night we tried to do a very light load and it just couldn't spin any more.

Back in January we were fortunate enough to be given the old washer (and matching dryer) from a co-worker's parents.  The pair's at least 12 years old, but they held up for a few months more for us.  Still, though, the dying washer was sad because we had to get a new washer.

Rather than having one random old dryer (that could die at any time) next to a shiny new washer, we decided to purchase a matching pair.  We drove all the way down to Sears Outlet - 40 miles away - to pick out a Fisher and Paykel pair.  After using Fisher and Paykel at A.J.'s in the Fall, we knew this was the brand we wanted.  We went with the AquaSmart line - they're pretty quiet, have very few moving parts, and are good on water and energy conservation.  They're both top loaders, yet the washer is HE and doesn't have an agitator.

They're being delivered tomorrow.  Let's hope they last a while!
